There's an alternative to Reddit on the ActivityPub Fediverse, it's called Prismo.

The first instance is here, and is open for sign-ups:
https://prismo.news
https://prismo.news/auth/sign_up

Federation is still being worked on, but you can already follow Prismo users and comment on their posts from elsewhere on the ActivityPub Fediverse (e.g. from Mastodon).

Wieso habe ich davon noch nie gehört?
Interessant wen das mit Activitypub stimmt. Mal dort nachfragen

Three protocols and a future of the decentralized internet

software developers should not be afraid to mix, match, and layer protocols. There is no rule that says you can't do this, yet I've noticed people picking one protocol and sticking to it out of some kind of loyalty. When really, as a developer, your loyalty should be to your values of an open, decentralized internet, whatever those are. If we view these protocols as tools in a toolbox rather than monolithic solutions or ecosystems, we can build decentralized software that rivals and surpasses in utility anything the big centralized tech giants have to offer.

ActivityPub - Final thoughts, one year later. - https://schub.io/blog/2019/01/13/activitypub-final-thoughts-one-year-later.html

Another long text, but don't worry: it is likely my last article on #ActivityPub and #ActivityStreams in its current form. At this point, I don't see the chance of productive progress in my area, so I decided to write this little piece as a reference post that I can link to when people ask questions.

> This is an answer to the blog post ActivityPub – one protocol to rule them all? of Dennis Schubert. Dennis was asked if Diaspora would implement ActivityPub, this blog post was his answer.

This small screenshot from the #Mastodon UI makes me extremely happy. First delivery from #Socialhome to Mastodon over #ActivityPub 😁 The result of half a day of refactoring the sending parts for this simple little thing to happen.

Bild/Foto

Some things to still tweak and tests to write, but should have bi-directional follow in Socialhome master branch within days!

!zotlabs.org | Osada Anyone willing to help debugging write.as / #hubzilla compatibility ?

As an ongoing project, I'm hoping to get \#WriteFreely federation working with all \#ActivityPub-supporting platforms.

Just tested with \#misskey and saw it wasn't working: https://github.com/syuilo/misskey/issues/4498

Still need to see what works with \#hubzilla and \#osada

@lanodan @amiloradovsky @kit_ty_kate Yes, #AndStatus really has minimal #ActivityPub Client-to-Server implementation that works with pleroma.site. You can even play with this...

Btw, Pythonistas. I'm in testing phase of delivery and receive for my #federation library for #ActivityPub support. After that it's mostly implementing objects and such.

Q: are there any well working JSON-LD libraries or shall I just go the way I initially was going to, ie "it's all JSON"? 😀

Hey developers & ActivityPub enthusiasts!

https://gettogether.community is a free open alternative to MeetUp.com.

The lead developer needs help with implementing federation, either coding or better documentation about ActivityPub.

There's an open issue for it here:
https://github.com/GetTogetherComm/GetTogether/issues/60

There's been discussion but no code contributions yet.
Can you help?

(It would be so cool to get this kind of service federated, imagine every town having its own instance!)

Federating my #blog and stories from #WordPress sounds like a great idea, and #ActivityPub and #Pterotype plugins might be able to do this. Here's the catch: in order to add a plugin to WordPress, you have to upgrade to the business plan, i.e., you can't do it on a free account.

I love it how #Diaspora has chosen not to target #ActivityPub support but #ActivityPub posts are still coming over via the "Friendica bridge", and also going over to the AP side 😀

Yay #Friendica!

I mean yea it's not optimal since no interactions on the original are possible, but ¯_(ツ)_/¯.

go-fed supports two kinds of #ActivityPub golang users: Those that want the library to do as much in the spec as possible (with options to override behavior), or those that want a near-completely custom solution.

Here's two diagrams for how go-fed can fit into your #golang project:
1) Mainly provide callbacks to support the AP logic particular to your app.
2) Implement the DelegateActor interface and do everything yourself.

Doing number 1 doesn't prevent switching to number 2 later.

And it recognizes the same your Actor in different instaces, showing a combine view of one Actor via several networks, or a view of all your Actors...

Blogger.com social media cross-posting addon

!Friendica Support

I have this old #blogger page that I would like to cross-post on and show Federated comments in the comment section.

Is that possible with the Blogger #addon? I am already stuck with the fact that the old Blogger API URL seems to not exist anymore?

Also what happens if I post via the Blogger.com interface... does Friendica pull these in, or is this a one way link? What about comments?

Alternatively: anyone had luck with using https://fed.brid.gy/ with Friendica now that #ActivityPub is available?

I made the simplest implementation of #ActivityPub C2S protocol in #AndStatus, allowing me to log into pleroma.site, read home timeline and get other user's info (i.e. read the Actor's profile based on his "id").
But I've got an error response from pleroma.site server on an attempt to send a Note, so I created another bug report in pleroma issues tracker: https://git.pleroma.social/pleroma/pleroma/issues/650

Alpha build of AndStatus is attached to this comment: https://github.com/andstatus/andstatus/issues/499#issue-389014088 , source code is available in the repository. https://loadaverage.org/attachment/5020018

@lanodan It's OK for #Mastodon and #Pleroma to use in their UI "summary" property only. Especially taking into account that Mastodon actually doesn't have Title/Subject of a "toot" but "CW" only (Content Warning) that fits into semantics of #ActivityPub's "summary" better than into "name".
Above decision shouldn't influence the "name" property, one of basic properties of #ActivityPub vocabulary.

Regarding current usage: Pump.io uses both "name" and "summary" properties since its creation in 2013, and they live together without problems.

Discussion of the #ActivityPub Note's "name" property usage and it's processing by Pleroma. Main attention is on the Client to Server interactions that are being implemented in #AndStatus.

I feel that we mixing two different use cases here:

1. An ActivityPub property, to which a Note's Subject/Title is placed, when entered via Pleroma web UI.
I understood about this point.

2. Delivery / sending to other servers a Note, which came from a client application or from another server and which has the "name" property.
I assume that if incoming Note has the "name" property, Pleroma doesn't delete that property, but sends it to recipients with the same value.
?!

I think his arguments are strong. Still dividing social medias in #fediverse and #activitypub is unfortunate. Does it
not make a difference, that friendica supports both? It is not acceptable to put its solution into diaspora? Is it
technically difficult?

Hello !Friendica Support

I would like to have the ability to discover content on the various new fediverse platforms that are using #ActivityPub (for example Pixelfed or Peertube).

Would it be possible to split the Activity Pub entry in the Protocol widget into the various platforms? Then it would be possible to go to /community and say something like /community?nets=apub_pixelfed.

@rysiek Maybe it's the right time to start building (or completing implementation of) #ActivityPub compatible client to server API and not waste time on improvements of Mastodon's custom API ?!
@dfeyer @kaniini @maryjane

@kaniini Thank you, after several attempts I figured out the correct full URL for the "whoami" API endpoint:
https://pleroma.site/users/AndStatus/inbox - and I got JSON response. Will parse it and return to You to move further, if you don't mind 😀

However, this URL, looking like an actor's inbox, is conceptually incorrect for the "whoami" call as even #ActivityPub spec says: "The inbox is discovered through the inbox property of an actor's profile".
This is why the "whoami" call should be the same for every user, and not the "inbox" of a concrete user/actor.
I think 😀

This is "whoami" call where the authenticated Actor receives his/her profile information, including URLs of endpoints!

?!

@kaniini I'm testing client to server #ActivityPub implementation of #Pleroma So far I cannot even complete user authorization step and get the authenticated Actor's endpoints (whoami / verify credentials...) at #Pleroma , because I don't know URL of the API point, see https://github.com/andstatus/andstatus/issues/499#issuecomment-457942709
Could anybody help me?

We noticed an unfortunately problem today with our work in progress implementation of #ActivityPub, which is also deployed to this server.

Due to the fact that #Friendica released their (awesome!) release which switches connections to prefer ActivityPub, if the target server supports it, we seem to have gone into a situation with updated Friendica servers at the moment where they will see the limited AP implementation on #Socialhome side when a contact request is made from Friendica, and thus mark the contact as "ActivityPub".

This makes total sense, but unfortunately our AP implementation only covers actors (ie profiles), #webfinger and some other #... mehr anzeigen

Here is some details about my intent work flow I am preparing.

I simply want to away from literal world, e.g. writing. But I am planning to compile my findings, express my thought in form of mind maps, point forms, sketch note.

I will set up a static site with #Activitypub support with my content published there.

You can take look there . It will contains many specifications, details but not in form of articles.

Also, I simply put these contents in creative commons and and try influence writes and bloggers to use these contents as element for them to construct a long, formal writings/post/article and distribute freely.

Just a plan for my work flow

Good day to you.

Just reactivate a previous account here. Like to explore more about Friendica.

#AndStatus Android client is ready for integration/developer's testing of the "client to server" #ActivityPub protocol.
I created an alpha build of AndStatus for server developer, which allows to use AndStatus as a manual Server API testing tool.
In order to move forward, past authorisation step, I need an account on a server that successfully authenticates/authorises a User. Servers that I'm aware of, didn't automate/implement the Client registration/User authorisation steps yet...

More details and discussion are here:
